4.1Does it work with my DAW?+
Yes. Phonecast is a normal audio output on your Mac, so anything that plays audio can use it: Logic Pro, Ableton Live, Pro Tools, Final Cut Pro, a browser, the system itself.
4.2How's the latency?+
Over USB, latency sits near the phone's own hardware floor, tight enough for instant A/B checks against your monitors. Wi-Fi adds a small safety buffer to stay glitch-free.
4.3Does it change the sound?+
No, and that is the entire point. Lossless 48 kHz stereo PCM, nothing of ours added. The only color you hear is the phone speaker being brutally itself, which is exactly what you came for.
4.4Is my audio private?+
Yes: there's no cloud and no telemetry, and USB never touches the network at all. Wi-Fi streaming is TLS-encrypted, and only your own devices can connect: the encryption key comes from your account, so a Mac and an iPhone signed in to the same account pair themselves. On shared or public Wi-Fi, prefer USB.
4.5Is it a subscription?+
No. Pay once, own it, done. No subscription, no tiers, no "pro" upsell later. The iPhone companion app is free.
4.6Do both devices need the same Wi-Fi?+
For Wi-Fi mode, yes. Both devices must be on the same Wi-Fi network.
Your Mac finds your iPhone using Bonjour, which never crosses networks. Hotel, office, and
guest networks usually isolate clients from each other and will block it even when both
devices look connected to the same name. That is what the USB cable is for: it always
works, and it has the lower latency anyway.
4.7Can I download it before I buy?+
Yes. Downloading and installing costs nothing, so you can see exactly what you're
getting. Streaming stays locked until you buy the $29 license, which you can do here or
from inside the app. The A/B demo above is the honest preview of what the phone-speaker
check sounds like, and there's a 14-day refund window if it
isn't for you.
4.8How do I uninstall it?+
Drag Phonecast from your Applications folder to the Trash, then remove
the audio driver, which lives outside the app and needs your Mac password. Open Terminal
and paste this one line:
Your sound blips for a second and "Phonecast" disappears from Sound settings. If you plan to use your license on a different Mac, open Phonecast and click Sign out first, or free the slot later from your account page. Your license is not affected either way, and you can reinstall any time.
